Shree kshetra Ganagapur Dattatreya temple is a very holy place and rich in culture, tradition which is followed by many people around the world as Guru Sthanam. Note: Gangpur, Gangapura, and Ganghapuram are all one in the same.
Reason behind worshipping Guru Dattatreya is, if you want to follow Vishnu tradition you will be going to Vishnu temples, if you want to follow Shankara you will be following Shiva temples, But if you follow Guru Dattatreya you will be following everyone i.e. Bramha, Vishnu and Maheshwara i.e. complete universe (Refer to Guru Charitra Chaper no: 4 where Lord Dattatreya is born).
Importance of this kshetra is explained by ShreeGuru which can be seen in "Shree Gurucharitra". This Nirgun Math is adorned with the Nirguna Paduka's which are very unique in nature and look. The "Nirgun Padukas" can only be found in Ganagapur.
These Paduka's are named as Nirgun Padukas for few reasons, Nirgun means formless, without qualities or attributes, an epithet of God who is beyond three. These paduka's looks like a red or chocolate oval color one which many people feel it is made up of stone, but in real no one knows what is inside the paduka's. Whether it's made up of stone or wooden one, till date no one has dared to test it. But it's very soft like cotton and get feel as a human body when we hold and touch those paduka's (Only priests are allowed to touch the paduka's in the time from early morning 2.30 AM to 6.30AM). 2nd Incarnation of Lord Dattatreya i.e. Nrusimha Saraswathy swamy has only kept these paduka's when he was leaving for Kardali Vana which is there in Srisailam while finishing his incarnation.
Ganagapur stands on the bank of the river Bhima in Afzalpur taluka in Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) district of Northern part of Karnataka. The confluence of Bhima and Amaraja (Amruta: highly purified water with no impurities) rivers are considered extremely holy in this area. Whoever takes bath in Sangam, will be free from their sins of all current and past lives and their wishes will be fulfilled.

Brahaspati told regarding the behaviour of a widow as follows: If the husband dies in the presence of the wife, then should observe `Sati'. But if she is pregnant, if she has a child which is being fed on her breast or if the husband dies at a far off place, then she should not observe `Sati'. She should live as a widow. She should shave off the hair on the head, else the husband goes to hell. She should bathe daily and should have only one meal every day. She should observe `Chandrayan' i.e. take one morsel of food on the first day of the bright (shuddha) fortnight, increase one morsel daily and take 15 morsels on the Poornima. In the dark fortnight (Krishna or Vad) she should go on decreasing one morsel daily and take only one morsel of food on the Amavasya (new moon day). She should not: take milk, should not sleep on the bedstead, should not take mangal bath, nor take `pan'. If she has no son, she should do `tiltarpan', worship Vishnu daily and act as per the wishes of her dead husband. She should wear white clothes.

We have been visiting Gangapur for the last 15 years and have been staying in this place every time very dedicated and homely. They guide us on the poja formalities and help us to have a good darshan. The stay is comfortable and the food is very good.
Eventhough we come from south india (Chennai) we don't feel out of place. Very friendly and human approach. I first travelled to Gangapur with my 6 months old son, they use to help me with all the necessary requirements to take care of him. Now he is 15 years old and we will stay in their place whenever we visit Gangapur temple. This place is quite close to the temple and the stay has always been comfortable.

Praveen Gurubhatt Pujari, 🙏🙏🙏🙏 through internet, they inform regularly about temple poojas, homas and if we do any seva through online , the prompt on time delivery of prasadam is the bestest work by them, thanks a lot 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sri. Praveen Gurubhatt Pujari, It was an inexplicable and most holy experience we had at Deval Ganagapur, Sangam and other Thirtha kshetras during our pilgrimage. It was mainly due to your help and guidance - we immensely thank you for the same. I pray to The God Sri Guru Deva Dutta to bless us with many more such opportunities. Thanks for your arrangement.
